The Hillsborough Inquests - A lecture by Mark George QC & Brenda Campbell (Part two) The University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield School of Law welcomed Mark George QC & Brenda Campbell for a lecture on their work during the Hillsborough inquests. The lecture was followed by a panel Q&A session with defence barrister Anna Morris.

Mark George QC has been a Criminal defence barrister for over 35 years. In 2000 he joined Garden Court North in Manchester. Appointed Silk in 2009 and Head of Chambers in 2013, for the last two years Mark has been working full-time on the Hillsborough Inquests where he represented 22 of the families who lost loved ones in the disaster.  

Brenda Campbell has been a barrister at Garden Court Chambers since 2005. She has a particular interest in the representation of women and children, and works on complex, high profile cases on behalf of vulnerable defendants. She spent 3 years working with a team of counsel representing the families of 77 victims who lost their lives in the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster. Brenda directly represented the families of 14 victims.

This lecture marked the official unveiling of the Miscarriages of Justice Review Association, a national network of university-based miscarriages of justice review projects in the UK.
