Real Life, Rural Thailand: I'm a real ale fan actually and that is what I miss above all else from the UK. I'd enjoy knocking a beer or 3 back with you anytime Chuck.

Real Life, Rural Thailand: The legal licenced lao khao is made from tapioca tubers (cassava, man sampalan) and is 40% vol. It's a clear white spirit, tastes nothing like commercial vodka but it definitely does the job. Often called whisakee Thai or just si sip (40) by the locals. I don't really like any spirits but they love it when you knock a couple back with them often very early in the morning too.
